Thanner moved in with Schimanski because his girlfriend Sylvia kicked him out due to his constant jealousy. He brings order to Schimanski's somewhat chaotic household, but his own soul is in considerable turmoil. He refuses to accept the breakup with Sylvia and tries to undo what happened.
